Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre

Standedge Tunnel is Britain’s longest, highest, deepest canal tunnel. At just over 3 miles long, it takes the Huddersfield Narrow Canal through the Pennine hills from Marsden to Diggle.

The Visitor Centre, complete with WaterEdge Cafe, Childrens outdoor and indoor play areas, Loft Space Creative Hub, Exhibition Centre and boat trips, offers people the chance to learn more about the 200 year old tunnel, its construction and restoration.

Open March – November, Monday – Friday 10.30am – 4pm and Sat & Sun 10am – 5pm. We have lots of family events throughout the season please see our website for more details.
